Lighting DLC, Gunshot Sound Range, and more!
12:00am EST - With the September update just one week away, the team is prepping for fixes, QoL, a new DLC drop, and more!
Decor Lighting DLC Coming Soon
A new DLC has hit staging, and it’s stacked with decorative and functional items aimed at making bases feel more alive. The Decor Lighting pack brings in a variety of ambient lights and stylish furnishings, along with some fun extras for base flair.
Here’s what’s included so far:
Clothing Mannequin that works like a clothing locker, with multiple animated poses.
String lights and fairy lights for decorative ambiance.
Bean bag chairs (fabric and leather) for cozy vibes.
Wall cabinet with storage, glowing light, and passthrough power.
Fluorescent lights for clean interior lighting.
Electric table with built-in lighting.
Spotlights (wall and tripod) for dramatic illumination.
A chandelier that can be lowered from the ceiling for maximum style.
Signs point to this going live with the update next week. All in all, this is shaping up to be one of the most content-packed DLCs yet for anyone who loves customizing their Rust base.
Gunshot Network Range Improvements
A set of changes is in the works to make gunfights more audible across greater distances. Once this lands, all weapons will be heard from up to 400 meters away — about 50 meters beyond the current network range. On top of that, certain high-powered weapons are getting even more reach: the HMLMG, M249, and Minigun will be audible from up to 600 meters away, while the LR and AK will clock in around 500 meters. The L96 and Bolty specifically can hit a max range of 700 meters. Once this rolls out, long-range fights should be a lot easier to pick up on — or avoid — depending on how you play.
Deep Sea Progress
Work continues on the new deep sea area, which looks to be a major piece of the upcoming naval update. Portals are now being implemented, likely serving as entry points into the deep sea zone. The edges of this area will feature radiation and rougher waters — bigger waves start hitting once you begin taking rads. Early signs also point to ghost ships and scattered islands dotting the deep. Still very much a work in progress, but we’ll keep an eye out as more details surface.
