More Meta Shifts!

September 25, 2025 by Bugs in Updates

12:00am EST - Big shifts to meta continue to change as we get closer to the October update.

Meta Shifts Continue

The meta is shifting further with changes that just landed on the staging branch, introducing blueprint fragment progression and a wave of monument loot and puzzle tweaks.

Workbench Progression
Tier 2 and Tier 3 workbenches are now much cheaper in scrap — dropping from 500 to 250 for T2, and from 1250 to 500 for T3. Even with the reduced cost, you’ll still need blueprint fragments to craft them: 5 basic for T2 and 5 advanced for T3. Advanced fragments are guaranteed in hackable crates (two per crate), and 20 basic fragments can be upgraded into one advanced. Hackable crate loot has also been slightly buffed to balance these changes.

Dome Puzzle
The Dome has gained its first real puzzle room. Using a green card, players can unlock a room that rewards a blue keycard, a basic blueprint fragment, and recycler access. The puzzle involves finding a box, flipping a switch, and making a quick run to the card room.

Rad Town Puzzles
Smaller monuments now feature green card puzzles as well. Rewards include a blue keycard, a basic blueprint fragment, and several loot boxes. Food loot tables here have also been updated with corn, honey, and potatoes.

All told, these changes coming with the October update push progression further into monument exploration and puzzle runs, keeping loot routes fresh and more rewarding.

Painting Rotation

A small but handy quality-of-life change: paintings can now be rotated when you place them. On top of that, you can also rotate the canvas while painting — though this only changes your perspective while working, not the actual orientation of the canvas itself.

Bicycle Bunny Hops

Bunny hopping on bikes is now live on the staging branch. You can hop with right click, but it’s limited to once every 3 seconds, only while grounded, not when waterlogged, and you’ll need at least 10% sprint left to pull it off.

The hops themselves scale with speed and your remaining sprint, use proper physics for smoother jumps (including slopes), and each hop consumes 10% sprint. In short — the faster you go, the higher you’ll pop, making for a fun new way to clear bumps and add style to your rides.

Other Stuff

  • Rust Beds are now skinnable on staging

  • Ability for the HMLMG to be skinned in the works too

  • Integrate crosshair code functionality into the settings menu UI (with import / export buttons)

  • A bunch more work on the Naval Update (floating cities, deep sea, islands, etc.)

  • Some work on the in game store UI

  • Progress on Charity Plushies

  • Work on Halloween 2025 (looks like some spooky wallpapers coming in!)

  • Improvements to cargo ship pathfinding

  • Players no longer spawn river side - resolves spawning inside rivers on all known problematic seeds+worldsize
