Mandatory patch today
The developers have announced there will be a forced client and server update coming out at some point today. Although Rust is officially on a 1 month update schedule, sometimes things simply can’t wait till next month. Given this, expect most of the things mentioned below to go live with the update today.
Since their addition last week, boats have provided a ton of fun and utility to Rust. As with all new features, however, there are always improvements to be made. Helk has focused his week on just that.
First, you’ll no longer always dunk straight into the water when exiting the boat. Now, when moving at a low velocity, you are placed on top of the boat instead of next to it. This makes it a lot easier to loot those floating junk piles without getting all wet.
Next, the push behavior has been drastically improved. Along with more power behind each shove, you can now continue to push when the boat is in shallow water. This makes getting un-beached and back in action much easier than before.
Helk has also made it a bit harder to exploit the boat as you can no longer spam the ‘swapseats’ command to move from seat to seat very quickly. It’ll also be a bit harder to have your fuel stolen as only the driver of the boat can turn it on or off and access fuel.
Finally, boats should act a lot less derpy on jumps as some of the physics with that have been tweaked.
CH47 map marker
Players will now be able to tell exactly where the Chinook is as Helk has added a marker on the in-game map for it. You can see it in action here.
The newest server event also got some love this week. Scientists in the CH47 will no longer shoot the fuselage due to networking issues. Also, the hackable crate resets the decay time when the hack starts / stops.
Can't put items in elite crates
In an effort to stop people from trolling elite crates by looting them and leaving junk in there so they don’t despawn, Alistair has blocked players ability to put items into elite crates.
- Can once again stick C4 and other explosives on vehicles
- Fixed nudity censor clipped by water and water masks
- Wounded player animation fix
- Projectile trail render is invisible for the first 6 meters
