5:50pm EST - If it wasn't already abundantly clear, this new terrain kicks ass! Here's a couple more shots:
5:20pm EST - Another server build came out and our dev branch server is wiped and back up now! Come test out the new terrain and make sure to switch your client to the dev branch.
4:02pm EST - We just wiped both our main and low pop servers. Find the new maps here.
3:37pm EST - The devblog just came out. The new terrain looks awesome! Garry might have spoke too soon in his message at the bottom though, the dev branch server code is still crashing at launch so there are no servers up.
2:50pm EST - Added state of the dev branch and other stuff being worked on below.
10:35am EST - Patience. Today, we must practice it because unfortunately, there will be no update. Long and short, the development branch hasn’t been tested enough to go into the wild yet. Yesterday, the terrain improvements branch was merged into main. Since then, the development builds have been pretty fucked. The team is working hard on fixing them, however, it’s not going to be done in time for an update today. The update is now expected to hit sometime early next week.
Given our main and low pop servers are on or over the 150k entity threshold, we will be wiping today at 4pm EST (8pm GMT). This should provide smooth gameplay till the update hits.
Our development server will wipe whenever a stable development build with the new terrain comes out (ideally that will be later today). As soon as that happens, I’ll post a bunch of pictures of the new terrain and give an update on some other shit being worked on.
State of the dev branch
People have been chomping at the bit to get a peek of this updated terrain. Unfortunately, players have been unable to connect to any servers since the terrain improvements branch merged with main yesterday. As of last night, people were getting stuck at “Terrain Components” in the loading process. That has apparently been fixed as of today, however, the server build is now blowing errors on startup. Garry recently committed some fixes so hopefully we’ll be able to see this new terrain for ourselves soon!
5:30pm Update - The dev branch is officially working with the new terrain. To test, switch your client to the dev branch.
Other stuff being worked on
- Helk updated some loot crates
- Repair bench has gibbing (with more coming soon to furnace, etc)
- Vincent has completed the first greybox for the barricade (not in game yet)
- Alex is tweaking the bush rustle sounds
- Goose has optimized building explosions
- Bone knife crafting fixed (actually takes time now)
- More of Meg's icons added
