Better item pickup, two handed sword and profiling.

2:58pm EST - It is a fresh week for Rust development; Garry is back from vacation and the team is ready to rock. So far, it has been a quiet day for commits. That doesn’t mean nothing is going on, just that the things being worked on aren’t ready to go live yet. Let’s get into it…


Item pickup

Ever since spear throwing came in several weeks ago, the biggest pain point has been dragging your spear back to the hotbar after you pick it up. Thankfully, Garry has tweaked it so thrown items will automatically go back to the slot they were in once, allowing you to quickly equip the item again.


Two handed sword

Minh has completed the animations for the two handed sword. No visuals on this yet as it has not been fully implemented on the development branch, more on this over the next day or two.


Profiling

Ever since the update last week, servers have been experiencing random bouts of very low server FPS. To help track this down, Garry has created a guide showing server owners how to run profiling on their servers, ideally providing more insight to the cause of the slow downs.
