Happy Friday!

A glimpse of the new stone texture.

4:55pm EST - Another client / server update came out a little while ago. I took the opportunity to wipe the server so we could go into the weekend with a fresh map and everyone on the same level. Also, the devblog came out just before, check it out here.

12:35pm EST - Happy Friday everyone! We’ve seen more client and server updates this week than many previous weeks combined. With at least one update every day, the team has been cranking on stabilizing the game and fixing bugs. Today is no different, as we have already seen a couple updates drop. Let’s get into it..


New stone building texture

The new texture for stone buildings is in and it’s looking great! One slight glitch at the moment is the outside of level 1 (wood) walls is actually showing stone also. Garry already committed a fix for this so we should see wood walls looking normal again soon.

4pm EST Update: This is now fixed.


Sweet, sweet wolf meat

Yesterday, animals started dropping meat other than the human persuasion. This would have been sweet except deer and stags were dropping chicken meat (which provides no health boost) and bear meat cannot be eaten. This is much better today as all animals are dropping delicious wolf meat - that good shit. Wolf meat provides the biggest health boost in the game (40 points) so it is by far your best bet when it comes to meat. Watch out though, it can spoil pretty quick if you don’t cook it!


More server logging

Garry added some new logs on the server end. Instead of one log file, there are now four: log.chat, log.log, log.warning, and log.eac. Although they currently appear to be missing some line breaks, these logs are providing more detail than the old logging system (like steamid’s for each line). I’m happy to see logging details increase, more insight into what's happening allows server owners to run their servers better.


EAC issues

EAC has been shitting a brick most of the morning. Basically, when enabled, it has been kicking almost everyone within a couple seconds of joining saying, “EAC unconnected.” This has happened before and normally works itself out in a couple hours. In the mean time, I recommend server owners set server.secure 0 to disable EAC.


Blueprint progress

Garry has also been rocking out some of the blueprint functionality. This work is happening on the radtown branch so we may be seeing the first iteration of these two things at the same time. Given this is a pretty large body of work, I wouldn’t hold your breath for a release. I expect Garry to say more about this in the next devblog.


Tip of the day - Stair lock

Getting your house started but don’t have enough frags for a lock yet? No problem, as long as you have a cupboard and hammer, just place some stairs in front of your door. Rotate the stairs to block the door or gain access when you need.
