Say goodbye to wall running and wake up

9:05pm EST - Tree improvements! Petur has been rocking out on tree's all day. It looks like he not only fixed the visual issue but added a new type of tree species and improved the LOD distances (basically improves level of detail each tree has as you approach them). No client update today. I'm hoping Garry's gut feeling paid off and build times have been improved (lower build times = more updates). In the mean time, check out our new guide!

5:30pm EST - Just posted the first iteration our new guide: Damage, armor and you. Check it out and let me know what you think!

3:13pm EST - Garry is testing out Unity 5 beta 7. Hopefully we'll see some fixes to speedtree which is making the build times a lot longer (as mentioned in the the last devblog).

1:40pm EST - Added a couple more items from trello to the bottom of the list.

1:16pm EST - Garry and crew started Monday off strong with a bunch of bug fixes and improvements. We haven't seen a client update yet today but I have my fingers crossed one will come in the next couple of hours.

Sleeper fixes

Man, this weekend was a rough time for sleepers. Many people experienced issues where they couldn't reconnect to a server without coming back dead, their game would crash when trying to respawn in their bag, and various other issues. It looks like Garry is working on fixing some of these bugs today so hopefully we'll see some more stability after the next update launches.

Jump-climb exploit fixed

This was my favorite exploit yet: If you run to a wall and spam the spacebar, you could climb quickly up any height. I know it couldn't last, and it totally sucked for homeowners (especially the roofless ones), but holy shit was it fun!

Player wake up bug

Garry added some debug information in to try and track down this player wake up bug (or should I say, player not waking up bug). This has gotten a lot of attention this past weekend so I'm sure a fix will be coming shortly.

Doors now show level

Many builders and raiders a like have noticed that doors do not change color when they are upgraded like most of the other building parts do. This will no longer be the case as doors now will have upgrade textures. These textures are placeholders for now (just like the rest of the upgrade textures are).

Locks no longer disappear on upgrade

This will be a welcome fix for the many people who have experienced their locks disappearing when upgrading them.

Slower while moving backwards

If you've ever chased another Newman around you've probably noticed they could turn around and face you while still moving just as fast backwards. They would watch and laugh as you aimlessly tried to catch up. This was a fools errand of course because you couldn't (unless they ran into a tree or something). Well that is going to change now that Andre has made it so players walk and sprint slower going backwards

Tree’s fixed… maybe

Petur is doing some work on the trees today. You may have noticed some tree’s are looking pretty funky as of the last update (like the trunk made of leaves). Well, this could be fixed now, but maybe not…

No more looting through doors

Some people noticed they could pick-pocket someone standing outside their house without opening a door. Garry has put an end to this one along with stopping the ability to deploy objects through doors also.

No more diagonal ninja running

One of the best ways to sneak up on someone has been by running diagonally. This is because footsteps magically stopped making noise when doing this. This will no longer be the case after the next update, so enjoy being a ninja while you can!

Where'd the ground go?

Many windows users have lamented over alt-tabbing out of game for the past several weeks because of a bug that would cause the ground to go invisible once you alt-tabbed back in. This has been remedied so get ready for a consequence free alt-tabbing experience going forward (unless you get bashed in the head with a rock for being afk)!

Thats all for now. Looking forward into this week, Garry has said he will be implementing a bunch of new art, improving the netcode and making building components easier to edit. I can't wait to see how this progresses!
