1:50pm EST - Just one day left before Friday. Not a whole ton of commits today which often means Garry is delving deep into some new functionality (see weapon refactor). No client update yet but I've got a good feeling about the big one launching tomorrow. Lets get into it...
We crashed earlier this morning and were down for a couple hours. I was trying to let it ride out till tomorrow's (potential) update but we didn't quite make it. Performance had dipped big time and shit was running wonky. I made the call to wipe and try a new seed so we can run smoothly today. Sorry if you lost your shit (or your town, that was awesome by the way). All signs point to the development branch running smoother so hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past.
Garry is working on a new branch today called weaponrefactor. He mentioned in last couple devblogs he was planning on refactoring some systems. I'm not sure of the specifics but we all can agree the PvP aspect of the game needs some serious work. Here's hoping this refactor introduces some much needed improvements in this realm.
New build system
No commits on the new build system for about a day now. I'm interpreting that as it is ready to be launched! I wanted to share a video that exemplifies some of the awesomeness of the physics in the new building system:
I seriously cannot wait to play around with this new build system more. Fingers crossed for a big update launch tomorrow!
New storage crate
Maurino has put the new storage crate into the code with the note, “can be locked.” Very cool, I have so many questions though: How many items can it hold? What does it take to craft? How long to break the lock? Nothing has appeared for it yet on the admin inventory site so we'll just have to wait and see.
More operation: unsuck
Howie attached some new paint over screens to my favorite trello card, Operation: Unsuck the environment. Gorgeous!
Vincent posted some new renders of the giant satellite.
Daniel has posted some new in game shots of the abandoned lighthouse:
