1:15pm EST - We're at the halfway point for the week and the team continues to crank away at code. The new building system is looking more and more awesome each day and operation: unsuck the environment is giving us some more glimpses of what the terrain may look like in the future. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we see a big client update on friday.
Garry is continuing his work on the new building system and structural integrity. He tweeted a new video today, noting foundations are important:
And, if you see this and worry your whole house will crumble at the lack of one foundation, Garry has commented on this also:
Don't worry, shit holds together pretty well. You're not going to take the whole building down by removing one foundation unless that's all that's supporting it.
I can't stress enough how big of a game changer this is. Building and raiding will be forever different and, in my mind, for the better. This stands to up the level of realism and make for some really interesting moments in game. I'm sure more testing is needed but I really cannot wait to be playing in a server with 100+ people with this new building system.
Window bars are in
Good news to those who enjoy scenic views but hate people jumping through their windows: Window bars are in. Although building up next to a window and jumping in will happen a lot less with the tool cupboard, it'll still be good to have that extra layer of protection.
Zon is working on a new branch called ‘animal-survival.’ One of the first commits to this branch is the addition of animal metabolism. I’m not sure of the specifics of this, however, more realism from the animals will improve the survival aspect of the game drastically.
More operation: unsuck the environment
This is quickly becoming my favorite trello card. Paul as chimed in on operation: unsuck the environment adding two new paint overlay screens:
Megan has posted some new concepts for the harpoon guns. Looking good!
Candle hat brief
Paul has attached the candle hat brief (this was actually the other day but I missed it). Personally, I think this candle hat is totally ridiculous… I can't wait to try it!
